Are you battling persistent dandruff, flaky skin, or irritating patches on your scalp and face? If the answer is a resounding 'yes,' you might be dealing with seborrheic dermatitis.
Navigating the maze of potential remedies for seborrheic dermatitis can be overwhelming and we've been down all the rabbit holes that this condition can open, so luckily you don't have to. In this short read we'll shed light on the basic science behind seborrheic dermatitis and how our very own natural formula works so effectively relieve it.
What is Seborrheic Dermatitis?
Let's break it down. This is a pretty common inflammatory skin condition that brings along some not-so-friendly companions: flaky, scaly, itchy, dry skin, especially on the scalp. And it doesn't stop there—it also pops up in other areas that love producing natural oils or Sebum on the body, like your forehead, cheeks, eyebrows, chest, and behind the ears. One key player in this skin drama is a microscopic fungus called Malassezia, a regular resident that lives naturally on everybody's skin that likes to feed on the natural sebum and usually does so without harm. However people with seborrheic dermatitis trigger an immune response when Malassezia yeast has accumulated too much, and this response is the symptoms that we all know too well; inflamed, dry, flaky skin.
Now, the mystery behind why people with with seborrheic dermatitis trigger this immune response to Malassezia yeast is still puzzling experts and scientists alike. It's like the skin has its own secret language that we're trying to decode.
But, here's the plot twist—seborrheic dermatitis isn't the outcome of a food allergy or you slacking off on hygiene. Nope, it's more about the delicate balance of elements on your skin. Understanding this can be like navigating a maze, but we're here to help you make sense of it.
So, next time you're dealing with those pesky symptoms, remember, it's not about what you ate or how often you scrubbed your skin. It's more about finding harmony in the skin symphony, with a sprinkle of understanding Malassezia's quirks. Which brings us to our next topic.
What is Seb Calming Serum?
Seb Calming serum is a hand crafted formula consisting of natural, ethically sourced, organic ingredients. The composition has been designed specifically to inhibit Malassezia yeast, while also still being extremely kind and nourishing to all skin types. Our goal with creating Seb was to create a product that simply 'does what it says on the tin' (or bottle in our case) and have a holistic ethos at it's heart. No chemicals, no steroids, no parafens... you get the idea. You can actually find our No List Here. We're proud of the results that our Seb Calming Serum has archived so far in helping people with seborrheic dermatitis and we have made it our mission to continue to help and educate people forever. So whats inside...
Medium Chain Triglycerides
Sourced from organic coconuts, Medium Chain Triglycerides (otherwise known as MCT Oil) is our staple ingredient. It's is like regular Coconut oil, but with a twist. We put regular Coconut oil through a fractionation process to remove something called lauric acid. This is a natural fatty acid that makes regular coconut oil dense and greasy and what cause it to go solid at a low temperature. We remove this because Malassezia actually thrive on fats, including those found in coconuts, so this would be adding to the fungus's fatty diet. Not only that, lauric acid is dense and really comedogenic. So with this gone our MCT is left light, fluid and absorbs into the skin without blocking pores.
From there we then spent a lot of time studying, researching and trialing the perfect composition of MCT. Trying to formulate the right balance of acids to effectively disrupt the fungal bio-film which protects the Malassezia, while still being all natural, super kind, and nourishing to the skin. Many formulations, trial's and test's later, we nailed the perfect composition. A super fungal-fighting, skin nourishing MCT. And now, we had one more of natures finest medicinal treasures to bring to the table...
Melaleuca Alternifolia
A ancient remedy first used only by native Australians, this little plant has since become a quintessential part of natural healing, all over the world. We source our organic Tee tree oil from the heritage farms of Eastern Australia. The leaves of the Melaleuca Alternifolia plant are grown and distilled, chemical free, to produce the highest quality oil. We added the perfect amount into the mix to create the ultimate Malassezia kryptonite and put an end to it's pesky skin tricks. Seborrheic dermatitis, cradle cap and Dandruff can all say goodbye to your skin.
